I'd love to see Bo and Luke Duke have a go at that.  Looks like the sort of place the show writers would like to have put them.

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.
Do you feel lucky, punk?

Fun to watch but not fun to do!
I did a ride 2 years ago that was set up by Chris Birch ( The Roof of Africa Champ ).
Shit was that muddy.
There was a 40Km loop that you would normaly expect to do in under an hour.
It was my first ride on my RM.
It took 4 hours to get around !!!.
There was 1 hill that was near impossible to get up.
The only way up was to get pushed up by other riders.
Picture a hill with 200 bikes stuck at the bottom and another 30 stuck on the hill.
It took an hour and a half just to get up that one hill.
(That included pushing up quite a few other riders.)
Man was that hard work.
The mud ( actually clay ) was that thick the tyres were building up to the point of slicks.
It was raining as well and about 2 deg C.
Was not fun at all.
We only did 1 lap. Parked the bike, jumped in the cruiser and turned the heater on full tit.

Some bikes had to be rescued the next day by Quad.
If you don't fall off you are not going hard enough

The first race I ever won in motocross was on a track just like at around the same year. It was a complete blast!! Fortunately for me it was pouring rain so hard that my goggles stayed clean!

At one time most real racers would race no matter what the conditions....

When it gets like that momentum is key... notice the 125 rider that went right through, while a bunch of folks kept stopping and looking around.... going backwards on the track.... it looks slippery as snot out there though.

That was fun.... thanks!

They didn't stop for anything back then.  I don't know what's changed, but I'll tell you for damn sure I don't have that sort of balls.  Check out the sort of mud these guys dealt with in 1970.

On Any Sunday is one of my favorite movies of all time... I try to watch it at least once a year.

For those that do not have a copy, the full movie is available on Hulu.com

Life is short.
