The TM Racing Team and Jerry Kopoian continue their winning ways at the Monster Energy Sponsor Cup and AMA Gold Cup Nationals in Dade City, Florida. The team received their new machine on Wednesday, a TM 250 MX two-stroke!
The arrival schedule allowed very little time to get the machine ready for the race, but Jerry was able to get in a little testing on the TM250. After a short introduction to the bike, Jerry was piloting the bike around the track at amazing speeds. He said this when he got off the bike, “Man, this thing is fast!”
The team worked diligently to get the bike set up properly. Although they battled not having enough time to get everything set up the way they had in mind. With precious little time to work on the set-up, Jerry was able to achieve some excellent lap times.
Jerry entered the 250A class on Saturday Night. He was in 5th position through the first corner. Working diligently at passing the racers in front of him and moving through the pack. By the end of the moto he was close to the leader and made the pass for the win a few corners before the finish line! An exciting finish for Jerry, the team and the excited fans.
Jerry signed up to race two classes on Sunday for the AMA Gold Cup National. In the 16-24 A Class Jerry was the only two-stroke! The rest of the racers in the class chose the mighty 450F four-stroke. When the gate dropped and the racers came around the first turn, Jerry was dead last!
He rode like a man possessed, passing racers at every opportunity, screaming the TM 250 two-stroke to the fans delight! Time was ticking down to the end of the moto with Jerry aggressively attacking the track. He headed into the last corner before the finish line in second place. Somehow Jerry found the fast line through the corner, and passed for the lead. Jerry won the moto! Excitement and high-fives all around.
The second moto was similar to the first except that Jerry got a better start. And he finished the Moto in first place.
The second class Jerry raced was the 250 Pro Class, in which he suffered some additional bad starts. He finished the first moto in 3rd place and then went out and won the second moto.
After the race, a crowd formed in the TM Racing pit area. Many came just to gaze at the lighting fast TM 250. A few fans commenting that it was the fastest 250 two-stroke they had ever seen….
When they were told the bike was completely stock, they were shocked.
Look for the TM Racing Team to see these machines up-close and personal.
