RM125.
« on: January 23, 2012, 05:17:26 PM »
Any one know what year Suzuki came out with an exhaust valve on the RM125.

I have just bought a trailer load that has 1 complete bike running.
Complete extra frame with motor , 6 sets of plastics , 3 tanks etc.

Both motors are in good nick but 1 has a funny looking exhaust valve on top of the barrel while the other does not.
The exhaust valve motor is supposed to be a 1985 while the other is supposed to be an 1984.
We can only run up to 1985 in VMX here so need to know if both motors are of the correct age.

Cheers.

I think the AEC valve was only in 86, the RG125/250/500 all had the resonator prior to the RM.
85 no pv power reed
86 AEC power reed
87 pv full reed.

The 85 will be a good thing, 250 is even better(especialy with the 82 or machined head)  :D

Have you seen this site.

They seem to say the AETC came out in '84.

Forgot about Alpha sports.
Cheers guys.
Looks like I have 2 85' frames, 1 85' engine and a 86' engine.
Got it cheap enough and the 86' barrell is on a 85' crankcase so I have 2 bottom ends.
Will check out interchangeability when I get a chance.
Will be a fun project. ;D
