Tire size question...
« on: December 07, 2011, 06:03:24 AM »
I got an 01 Cr125 and the stock rear wheel tire size is a 100-90/19..I gotta change the tire super bad and I have a couple brand new tires 110-90/19 can I run that??? Ive hear people say that the bigger tire puts too much load on the 125...but I mean it's not THAT big of a difference it's not like a 140-90/19 or anything. Thanks for reading!

That size will be fine. Depending on the manufacturer, it may not even be any bigger. The Michelin's I use are small compared to other tires of the same size.

You can use it,it won't put that much extra load on the bike.Typically a 125 runs  185 rim and a 100 tire and a 250 a 215 rim and 110 tire.
A 110 tire on a 185 rim will work but will give you a more rounded profile as you are putting a wider tire on a smaller rim so will be more susceptible to side punctures and it may feel a bit squishy.
On the other hand,I used a 110 on my 125 SX because that's what it came with as it had a 215 rim. It's more about rim size than displacement.
Michelin shows two sizes above everyone else.A 130 michelin is a 110 in everything else and a 120 michelin is a 100 in everything else. Why you ask?Why do the french do anything they do?  ;)

As long as it fits between that space on your swing arm then you should be good to go  :P
Mixin' gas and kickin' ass, Burnin' oil and smellin' royal. Two stroke until I die (which hopefully isn't soon)   If your not mixing gas, your not kicking ass.

I run 110 tires all the time on my 125's. They eat a little bit of power but the added rubber helps prevent flats in the rocks. If you are a serious MXer, having the extra sidewall on a smooth mx track might cause it to roll, affecting handling. Unless yuo are a hot A or a pro, you won't notice it though.

Hahah  :D well I guess it sounds safe to me! I'm gunna run it! As for Michelin's I'm good off those...I stick with dunlop 952's they seem to work awesome in the areas I ride and they last quite a long time too!  8)

Most all companies make good tires-and bad.I'm a Dunlop fan but by far,the best off road tire(rear) I've ever used is the Michelin S12.My most hated rear is the M12 Michelin. The front s12 is a little skaty on hardpack so my favorite, and current, combo is and S12 rear and M12 front.Works good everywhere and wears very well and performance doesn't drop off much when worn.I loved the 756 Dunlop when new but a 1/4 worn one was nothing to write home about.

i stumbled on a new tire recently, ill have to go back to the guy i bought it off of and see what the vendor was but its labeled a deestone, cheap knockoff hybrid fom taiwan or something, super soft compound, hugely agressive and open pattern and it seems to resist lug ripping excellently, i love it so far, heres the kicker tho above anything else, the performance is on par no aparent sacrifices so far but the tire costs 45 bucks.....after tax....

i used to run a 100 on a 500 mod  :P

all kidding aside....i run the 100 on my 07 cr125 and its fine, i haven't tried a bigger one but i'm not going to change anything, it hooks up really well as it is

now on a 250 however, i put a 120 on it, that thing needs as much meat on the ground as possible

oh, and both tires are the MAXXIS SX tire
2007 cr125, all stock, except suspension work, Sunline Flex levers, and a crf250r front # plate and front fender

I've noticed that the cheaper the tire the harder it is to change.
