that's true about the 6 speed gearbox. i'm allways searching for a broken 96 cr 126. drum barrell and gears are a plug and play in recent engines.

kart racers do that conversion a lot. they can get amazing power from a cr 125 engine. they choose that engine because of reliability.

Ull never get my gears and drum while im alive lol.....96 cr125 ftw....honestly tho good luck to u guys....I've totally fallen in live with my old school steel....I don't think ill ever ride an aluminum dirtbike again....the feel is just different

dude, you got one of the best 125 that honda have built! you better keep that beast and don't sell it, ever!

about the transmission, sometimes i find someone breaking a bike in parts and a few gearbox show up, but money is not allways available.

The beast will live I promise....this year I'm gonna break her cherry again and enter it with my jockey in a race....probably the first she has seen in almost a decade but this coming winter will see a complete disassembly complete hardware replacement fresh top end from wiseco replated jug powdercoated steel all the way round...new bars and fresh bearings all around :) the local mower cross riders need to look out cuz my jockey austen is a beast worthy of the 96-125 my best friend and hopefully soon to be riding under ameture sponsorship

ya i always wondered why they switched from 6 to 5 speed, when every review says that the 6 speed is the way to go on a 125
Riders where not using 6th gear. In a 5 speed the 1st 3 gears are wider=stronger, the 6 speed worked great and was reliable, but honda wanted a indestructable trans. so you have the 5speed.

Yamaha did the same thing for a couple years then went back to the 6 spd.It would have been fine if they'd just dropped 6th but when they went to 5 they spread the ratio's out making it too much of a gap between gears unless you geared way down.Dumb ass idea from both Honda and Yamaha.

you bet ford!

sometimes when i hit corners i gotta struggle with my clutch, it seems that i need to have a "between" gear to get the proper power to get off.

even that a rider don't use all the 6 gears, the ratio is way better than a 5speed box. you upshift and downshift a lot, but you allways got the right speed on, and don't need much clutch work as i need in my cr.

Honda only went to a 5 speed to save on high tensile steel for valves on the 4 strokes. :P
If you don't fall off you are not going hard enough

drop your rear sprocket back to the 52tooth leave your countershaft sprocket the same put a reed kit on not just differant reeds in your stock reed cage but a reed kit either a FMF rad kit or a V-Force and Honda actually has a good stock pipe as is you could put a Pro Circuit 304 factory sound long silencer on for top end or FMF Fatty with the Pro Circuit 304 the 304 factory sound long silencer is actually for top end but helps from bottom to top.All simple mods that wont break your wallet

form my understanding

you can polish the exhaust side but the intake side benefit from un smooth surface to help the gas oil flow

Makes no difference, correct jetting and ignition stop deposits.

The fellow in the video is a uninformed dickhead that knows nothing about 2 stroke engines. The only thing the video is good for is showing you what NOT to do. The proof is anyone who sharpens the transfer divider has no real grasp of gas dynamics. All that does is loose a lot of intake charge velocity

This is what a 54HP 125 cylinder looks like

why did you hide the ports in the cylinder? top secret design?   8)
aaahhhhh yes, I remember the good old days

Its not a top secret design, it was probably censored by SOPA  :P
Mixin' gas and kickin' ass, Burnin' oil and smellin' royal. Two stroke until I die (which hopefully isn't soon)   If your not mixing gas, your not kicking ass.

Not top secret but  I was asked not to show the port arrangement.

Nice pic, shows what 99% of "tuners" is doing completely wrong. I think nearly every ported cyl I've seen had sharpened transfers. What also is interesting is that there's not a single sharp turn anywhere, which makes sense even with a bit of thinking.

Just curious, is that cyl from Aprilia/Derbi or what?
