The best I have found is Evinrude/Johnson Triple Guard grease.
Water proof grease.
Or try the Mercury stuff which is probably the same.

TMKIWI is right... (boy that's hard to type)...  :P  The marine grease is the best to use, waterproof, and will last.

Marine grade bearing grease, I don't know which brand I use but it's blue and sticky and takes contact cleaner to get it off my hands
If a pair of 2" brass balls isn't working, I doubt that the 3" model will make much difference.

No grease will hold out forever unfortunately, 3 to 4 times a year a re-grease job should be in order, more if you ride in mud a lot  :o

The honda shop manual says to use a multi-purpose grease NLGI #2 molybdenum disulfide additive. Any thoughts?

Many of the good quality waterproof greases have the NLGI2 additive.  I know Valvoline Lithium
EP and Maxima Waterproof both have it.  I imagine the Bel-Ray and any other reputable moto
grease will have it as well.  All you have to do is check the label.

Main thing like others have said, keep the linkage maintenance consistent - every "x" hours depending
on your riding conditions.
