Air box modifications?
« on: January 20, 2012, 12:45:50 AM »
I have heard a few rumors about getting some extra power from making changes to the air box. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do? I can re-jet if necessary. Just curious.
Mixin' gas and kickin' ass, Burnin' oil and smellin' royal. Two stroke until I die (which hopefully isn't soon)   If your not mixing gas, your not kicking ass.

you could get some UNI air box vents they come in a 6 pack with filters on the back side of them they are about the size of a quarter and the filters on the back side are removable for washing motosport.com has them for $11.99 any engine that can get more and better air will run better

If your bike has a cover at the top of the airbox it could likely use some more air.If you take your seat off and are looking at the filter, you're probably ok.Be careful with those uni type vents. If you use them make sure they have a foam in them otherwise when you wash the bike or get splashed water will pass through on to your filter and can get in your engine.

do not under any circumstances do this uni box mod unless the bike stays on tracks and even then only and i mean only tracks that arent dusty, ever, we run these things in very harsh environments and the uni filter crap doesnt work, or hold up well, the most often seen result of one of these mods is that the little quarter sized pucks fall out of the box completely, leaving u with a quarter sized hole to get lots of dirt on ur air filter every time u go thru something more than a staging gate.

I do not have a cover on my air box, it just goes right to the air filter. And my bike is my everything bike. Trails, track, and even road when the weather gets to snowy for cars. So, that being the case, I think I will pass on the UNI air filters because of the water. It wont kill me to leave it as is, I was just curios while I had it out of the bike  ::)
