I don't understand the fuss over the place.
We are loosing 60,000 people a year to Aussie with the promise of higher wages.
What they don't tell people is those high paying jobs are not that easy to get, house prices are way higher and beer is more expensive.
Stories are coming out now of families coming back after 12 months broke and jobless.
I would earn less in ozzie then I am here because our tax rate is lower.

Not knocking your country just saying there is nothing wrong with ours but for some people the grass will always be greener on the other side.

Is the population of NZ stagnant, decreasing or growing?

P.S. Where's the woodchuck?

Increasing. We were 3 million around 1990 now 4 million.
New immagrating is a mixture of British,South African, Asian,Indian,Australian and Pacific Islander.

Be prepared for some hard lessons. America only has softwood here we have only hard wood (except pine plantations). My old shed the timber frame was so hard it was impossible to drive a nail or screw in without it bending or breaking.Even with predrilled holes.

Got sucked into cutting 26 cords of rock hard birch this summer. My only saw that would cut the wood with any kind of efficiency was a 100cc Dolmar. With the .404 chain singing the old monster growled through cord after cord at a steady 5000 - 6000 rpm. ;D

Woodchucks go into hibernation in October. ;)

I used to have a supply of wooden power poles years ago. Aussie hardwood.
The only wood where I have seen sparks come off the wood. :o
I spent a few weekends when I was a young fella drilling holes in the posts ( we were making orchard posts ) with an old Desoutter Drill with a 6Ft bar screwed into the top.
With 1 1/4 inch bit it would grab and throw you around. :-[
Very hard wood.
