Any porting/head work? That can drastically change the way a pipe behaves.

Depends on your riding style really. If you love the YZ's tractor like powerband then an FMF fatty is a good choice. If your looking more for a flat out, glued throttle approach, Pro circuits tend to get rave reviews from the faster/old school 250 two stroke riders.

I don't recommend the PC pipe if you're a novice/beginner. That pipe really shines in the hands of an experienced, fast rider. The average joe prefers the fmf because there isn't as much "hit". As for a silencer, they don't tend to change too much in terms of power. I'd keep the fmf you have and then choose your pipe according to skill level. This will give you everything you need to know about what style pipe would fit your riding best.

Keep in mind that you might have to jump up on a main jet with the pipe change.

Fmf fatty pipes smash like beer cans. Pro Circuit may dent but I have never smashed one flat. But I ride woods so take it with a grain of salt if moto is all you do..
05 YZ250 woods set up
Top Secret woods fork mods.
Phathead racing head #2 dome
Vortex 10x programable ignition with map switch on handle bars
Rekluse clutch
Pro Circuit exhaust
Steahly flywheel wt.
Carbon fiber guards everywhere.
