Legit. The most I have ever benched was 200lbs at age 16, and I know for a fact I can do more but whats the point when your building the wrong type of muscle(Look how big the guy is!). My point of stating that "Biking is better for leg muscle", is because it is a low impact exorcise, and you won't destroy you knees in the process. Hell, I'd rather be that guy in the video kicking the **** out of 4 stroke than do squats, leg presses, etc.. I'll try to get you a foot press video, depending if I can use the college gym, and if I have time.
1000lb on a proper 45 degree leg press going to full extension is no easy feat, certainly something people would want to see from a guy who never trains.

Never trains? I bike 12-20 miles everyday, on a fixed gear, which means non-stop pedaling, and no brakes which means I stop by back pedaling. Why don't you try riding one for a day and come back and tell me its easy :o My thighs are wider than my head...LOL

X2. Bicycling is great for the muscles you use while riding.Bench pressing would be good if the bike landed on top of you and you had to throw it off with your legs-otherwise,short duration, high strength isn't what you're after.

ford I don't think you fully understand weight training if you think it is all for high strength & short duration. I used to lift heavy, really heavy. It's how I blew my back out both times (the second time I was shrugging over 700lbs). Now I just lift with light dumbbells. Light weight, high rep work outs. It promotes lean muscle gain, builds endurance, and helps burn fat.

I jumped on the bike (bicycle) last night...  holy crap am I out of shape I wan't down the road a mile before I was making fun of myself for being so far out of shape...  theres nothing like a good workout on a bicycle...  I need to start riding it every night.   With my job, I have limited time to ride my KTM, so I need to be in decent enough shape to take advantage when time permits...  I'll be on the bicycle trying to get some much need strength back in my legs, arse, etc.

By the way good video

I know i'm late on this thread, but the best way to build your leg muscles is to ride standing. I know that alot of us can't ride as much as we'd like, but when you do, STAND UP.
When I train, I ride two or three days a week, riding as close to 60 miles as I can, and stand as much as physically possible. The first week is pure Hell, cramps, seemingly endless deep muscle soreness, but after a couple of weeks the cramps will subside(some) and the soreness won't be so bad.
I will also ride my mountain bike a couple of miles in the morning. My knees are too shot out to jog.
Bicycling is great for cardio and stamina, but riding standing conditions the muscles you use riding.
If a pair of 2" brass balls isn't working, I doubt that the 3" model will make much difference.

I think that the hack is the best way to build up your legs. Just try to ride one with a 200lbs. monkey. It is like doing 400lbs. leg presses for three hours. I weigh 200lbs. and my monkey does as well. We ride about 15 miles at a time a couple times a week. Our regular ride is about 30 miles on our BMX bikes. We ride 15 miles and then hit the jumps all day, then we ride 15 miles back home. We spend most of the time standing. It is nearly impossible to ride a BMX bike while sitting. You can't climb any hills, hit any jumps or thrash any berms while you are sitting. We really only sit while we are chasing the road bikers. Our average speed on the pavement is about 18 mph on bikes with only 55 gear inches. It's all about spinning!
