250sx vs 350sxf? where is the test!?!
« on: January 30, 2012, 01:47:12 PM »
ive looked all over and i cant' find a test of the 2 bikes head to head. I'd really like MXA to do one bc they usually don't give any bs about the bikes and the comparisons. Id be interested in what they'd say ,because we've all seen the 250 vs 250 test where the 2 stroke killed the 250f but i wanna see a more equal test between the 2 bikes. the 450 is really not a comparison to the 2 stroke its just to much bike i think. They also need to throw the yz250 in there bc the 350 has less than 50 horses

I doubt they will put the pair against each other, and if someone does(most likely MXA) I can already tell you which bike they'll be supporting.

MXA says in their 450-F shootout;

,,...The 350SXF isn’t comparable to a 450cc motocross bike in speed, thrust or torque. Yes, it can be ridden to the front of a 450 race, but then so could a 250cc four-stroke...''

...a 250cc 2 Stroke could do that too... (but the magazines don't say it!)

I would like to open that to a 300cc as well.  Let's have 250sx, a 300sx, a 350sxf and a 450sxf. I'd prefer MXA to do the shoot out as I feel they will give an honest opinion.

Yep, that is the test for sure. KTM probably won't let MXA do it since they have so much invested in the 350. You think the KTM would want to build their 2-stroke up and get more people to buy it, but IMO they haven't really pushed it as much as they could. Same with the 300 and 150

this is exactly why i didn't understand why they would put the 350f in that test against 450's, it should be against the yz250 and 250sx, i'd be willing to bet even the yz would eat it alive

i'm surprised that ktm allowed the 250 vs 250 test to be honest. maybe the mxa just did it anyways even if ktm said that they didnt like the idea?

U gotta pay attention to the whole article. The 250 sx didn't kill the 250f. In a one lap race it would have the advantage but I haven't seen many of those on tv. The four stroke is more consistent and less taxing to ride. If u can be consistent on a 2 stroke u can be faster. If u have the fitness to do it he whole moto u can be faster. Each bike has it's advantages and disadvantages

oh i know, i'm not oblivious to the "bad" stuff about the 2 stroke, i read it multiple times lol

And the 450f doesn't just kill the 250f either...

so what you are saying is the only disadvantage on a two stroke would be between the seat and handlebars.

that usually is the case.

To a point that is what I'm saying but also that the intensity it takes to ride a two stroke forces the mistakes. I agree fully the cc advantage is bs but also that 4t bikes wouldn't disappear if the changed the rules. Like I said each bike has it's advantages. I know plenty of vet riders that simply couldnt handle a twostroke bike.

The way I look at it is like this.

250SX is 53hp and 210lbs

350SXF is 46hp and 235lbs

any "disadvantage" there is 100% on the rider.  I hear a ton of talk about "4 strokes are better because they are easier" and I can't help but reply "does that mean they are better, or does it mean you are fat, slow, and out of shape?"

I prefer the snap.  I need the snap as a reference point.  I am no McGrath by any means, but I am 100% faster on a two stroke, and I am beginning to think I am the only one.

just to be correct its 50hp on the 25sx not 53, that is approaching 450 category lol

and you're not teh only one, i hate riding the 4 stroke it doesn't fit my riding style, i need to have the snap like yourself, i am also alot faster on a 2 stroke than a 4 stroke. plus its a hell of a lot more fun that's for sure  :P
