2005 YZ250 seat hight...what to do?
« on: August 16, 2012, 04:15:01 AM »
Hi Guys
New here on the forum. I bought a '05 YZ 250 about 2 weeks ago. I'm about 5ft5 and toes just just touching both sides. What can 'n do to make this better? Trim the seat? Any advice would be great..

probably the best thing to do without lowering your suspension and messing it up is trimming the seat yeah

If you can start the bike with out the stand you may as well leave the seat alone. How often are you standing there on the bike and not riding it?  ;D just a suggestion hahaha.
Mixin' gas and kickin' ass, Burnin' oil and smellin' royal. Two stroke until I die (which hopefully isn't soon)   If your not mixing gas, your not kicking ass.

When you're out on the trail there are times when being able to have both feet on the ground is  nice
aaahhhhh yes, I remember the good old days

I'd suggest adjusting the sag first of all. Trimming the seat is a pain in the ass and makes it very uncomfortable to sit right up front under hard acceleration, if you're into that. If push comes to shove you can shave the seat but start with adjusting your sag (don't go anymore than 30 mil) and then move onto the seat. If you're going to grow more I'd avoid the seat trimming altogether and just put up with it for the time being.

And welcome to the forum mate :D
See you in Hell or Motocross Des Nations, whichever I get to first.

Set the sag, trim the seat or cut the subframe.

When I bought my KTM-300xc I had the same problem & I'm 6'1".I ended up buying a low seat from KTM powerparts & it helped a great deal but I'm still only touching with the tops of my feet! Just recently I saw in MXA that KTM is now selling a suspension kit that will lower my bike a few more inches for close to $500.00!!!  :o. What happened is KTM shipped the 2-strokes here in the U.S. with Euro spec suspension & it's a bit taller than U.S. spec suspension... ::)
