Dirt Bike Shootout - Honda CRF250R vs. Yamaha YZ250 & KTM 250SX

By JohnNicholas • on June 17, 2009

The February 2009 issue of Dirt Bike magazine contains a shootout between a Honda CRF250R, Yamaha YZ250 and KTM 250SX. That’s right a shootout between the king of the four stroke 250Fs and a pair of modern day two-strokes from Yamaha and KTM. The following is the complete test retyped for your enjoyment. (Thanks Scooter42) The rules are a mess. Back

Motorcycle USA 250cc MX Shootout

By JohnNicholas • on January 2, 2009

The crew over at Motorcycle USA.com just finished up their shootout of the latest 250F’s and they decided to add a YZ250 two stroke. Unfortunately they did not really include the YZ250 in the shootout, but they did ask their test riders impressions. Here are a few quotes. Sherri Cruse – WMA Pro “By

MXA’S 2009 YAMAHA YZ250 TEST

Blue Smoke, Web Impression: 2009 Yamaha YZ 125 And 250

By JohnNicholas • on November 1, 2008

Yamaha’s 2009 YZ250 and YZ125 bike intro was not really to show off the bikes’ minimal changes, but to remind us how fun these bikes are. They gassed up their ‘09 two-strokes and sent us out on a ‘Field of Dreams’-like private track to twist throttles and stretch smiles.

First, let’s get one myth out of the way up front. It is common for modern critics of the 450cc four-stroke to claim that the AMA 500cc National Championship was terminated because bikes like the CR500 and KX500

RacerX Test - 2009 Yamaha YZ’s

By JohnNicholas • on October 3, 2008

One of my favorite magazines just recently tested the 2009 Yamaha YZ two strokes. This is unusual because they had not really said much about the two strokes in quite some time. Is it possible that the tide could be changing? What folows in an Except from the Racer X web site. At the end of the blurb

Who said there’s no two strokes being made?

By JohnNicholas • on September 5, 2008

Not to start any conspiracy theories or anything, but I have heard told in most of the US Motocross media that some of the Japanese manufacturers are no longer making any two strokes. Sure Yamaha and KTM are still in the game here is the good ‘ol USA, but the word is that Honda and Kawasaki dropped
