After Ricky’s DNF in Daytona he felt he had some unfinished business. He wanted to show the fans he could put the 2 Stroke in the main, so he’s doing it again this weekend in New Orleans.
He had a great run in Daytona, even with the rain and mud he still managed to qualify faster than 18 of the 450′s. Yeah, 450′s. He was running in 8th position in his heat race when the motor gave out. DNF
This weekend he’s coming back on a dry track, with the help of a few more sponsors. TSM set up a Fund Raiser for Ricky, the 2 stroke fans donated over $1,600 to see the 125 back on the track!
His motor went to Eric Gorr for some work, DEP hooked him up with some pipes.
Ricky is very confident and excited for this weekend. To the 2 Stroke fans seeing and hearing it live in the dome, we are jealous.
A few pics from Daytona. We tried to get some pics for this weekend but Renner is on the road, stay tuned we will give them when we get them.
A huge thanks to the sponsors supporting Renner’s efforts on the YZ 125!

I can only assume he’ll be on a 125 this time.
Him saying he was on a 144 last time may well have the powers that be, paying him a bit of attention.
Now, I’d have no problem with him being on a 144 – I reckon he should be on a 250 2t, if the rules were remotely what they should be.
I sure hope he has a fresh top end for NOLA SX. I can’t wait to see him killing it on Speed. I was hoping to be able to attend but can’t.
Yes, it will be a stock bore 125cc.
so i’m guessing the ama don’t allow 144 2 strokes in with the 250fs? surely that class should be able to run up to 175cc 2 strokes and the open class should be just that 200cc-500cc.good luck to ricky, top 10 in the main this week?
A tweet from Ricky a few minutes ago: Arrived in new Orleans to a warm welcome. “hey, after you park we need your bike at AMA to check and see of its legal” you kidding. #AMAlove
Gotta love the AMA :/
More updates on Renner can be found here: http://twostrokemotocross.com/forum/index.php/topic,4122.0.html
I should have thrown some money his way but, every time I send money to these guys they always ( well, almost always ) have issue’s and hardly ever make the race, little lone the main.
My mistake, I will throw funds at him if he moves on with more races on his 2 stroke.
See what I mean?
This doesn’t mean we should stop trying to compete on our 2 strokes, as Mr. Renner has tried twice now but, we need to resolve the rules issue’s with the AMA and this will not happen as honda controls the rules and even the idiots in the announcers booth.
The good news is that we do have opportunities to make changes but, the bad news is NO ONE seems to want to try to go this route.
We at Revanche 2 strokes contacted over a dozen ( so called ) 2 stroke companies to see if they wanted to join in the fight with us and we heard back from ONE!! We never heard back from Maxxima oils, FMF, TSM, TM, Gas Gas, Maico, Aprilia, and on and on and on. Only the ONE returned our calls ( Pro Circuit ) and they said no.
So there is a way to beat this, but there is not a way if no one fights.
We can all sit around and complain about the status of the beloved 2 stroke and do nothing or, we can fight this injustice. However, we seem to be fighting it alone. Efforts like the ones Mr. Renner made are nice but, seriousely, will this forward our fight? No way in h***, we need rules changed. Once this happens, guys like this can make a difference on the track to convince joe public of the truth but only after we make a difference at the rules level.
sounds im excited… xD
Mr Schmidt:
Did Pro-Circuit give you a reason for their refusal?
Yhe AMA is trying to kill the sport. They dont want two strokes around. We need some body to go out and give the top pros a run abourd an ama legal two stroke. James Stewart wouldnt have any thing to loose by racing a yz250 at this point in the season would he? Seems like a win win to me. Ricky Renner made a fan outa me.
