Two Stroke vs. Four Stroke – Outboard Boat Style

By JohnNicholas • on October 12, 2009

This is not a new debate by any means, the boating industry was one of the first to address the disparity between the two and four.

In boating you have a choice between two stroke fuel injection or four stroke. At least they have a choice!

Here are a couple of videos to enjoy.

LOL. the first video is nuts…

DI is coming for dirt bikes. It’s just a matter of time. The bike makers cant ignore it much longer. People aren’t totally stupid. they will demand what is currently offered in other industries. cleaner, lighter, faster, cheaper, quieter.

The big 4 are milking the 4 strokes right now and it may be their demise while the European companies take market share. I will not lose any sleep knowing the big 4 are sleeping right now and great companies like KTM, Husky, TM etc are swiping customers. FMF will be at there backs to make great pipes for all these new tech 2 strokes as well.

KTM has a bolt on kit for the 250SX for under $700 that turns it into a 300. NICE job. 55HP (5 more than a 450) in less than two hours with five common tools. NICE! Glad to see someone is listening with a 450 killer minus 37 pounds!

2010 YZ450F 245# $8000
2010 300SX 208# $7200 including 300 kit

whats missing with the KTM? About 37 pounds and $800

OOPS. wrong HP on that 300. I saw 47 just now. sounds more like it. So, same HP as 450 for $800 and 37# less.
