Dylan155, Yes, I know what your saying. With all the politics and dirty worlds of it out there, It is hard to think of sports in Iran. Indeed, There are all the brands available. But like in the U.S, Japanies bikes are top. Actually, MX has been there since the CZ and Maico time of Europe. Infact, If it wasn't because of that God D.. revolution, Iran would have been listed on top GP FIM today. By the way, Almost all riders out there interested and follows about American riders such as, RC and others. Yes some very good and talented riders out there. Freestyle too. Perhaps one day soon, The 2 countries will become allied again and riders can meet and have fun to compete. That will be the best. If interested to see some pics, Let me have your email and I will send to you some.

Just curious - Why don’t Maico pick up the Knighter (Enduro) - He is struggling for a ride?
What an advert for Maico!!!
Maybe very expensive – but it would put their name on the map BIG TIME, if the bike really is as good as that....Blew up in BMW’s face…
Maybe have DK have a test run on the Maico in private?
Kawasaki don’t sponsor him...Currently riding as a privateer as far as I know??

I've ridden the new Maico's for quite a few years now and my brother has ridden new TM's. I find the TM's too much work to ride - pipey mid range case reed motors and handling characteristics I can't get used to.The Maico's, on the other hand, have linear, powerful, piston port reed motors and neutral handling characteristics that inspire confidence.I'd rather keep the chrome-moly frames,KTM and Ducati have it right. One problem with the Maico's (for height challenged riders)is that they are very tall.I can look David Knight right in the eyes so the Maico's are very comfortable for me.

JohnNicholas

The reason I say Yamaha would like to kill the 2T is based on what they have done in other markets. Mainly Snowmobiles and outboard engines. Have you seen an ad lately? Their ads are extremely anti-two-stroke. They are doing anything they can to kill the 2T. If there was no KTM Yamaha would go ahead and kill the 2T in MX too.
I believe what they do in other departments reflects their goals.

But I guess buying a 2T from them can't hurt. As long as you aren't short sighted to the MX world.

Dylan, I understand you fully. But it's not only the Americans getting the 4T fever or whatever you may call it. Iranians are exactly the same. Last year, I was visiting Iran and got so shocked to see most of them riding 4T ! But, today, Many are becoming regretful and thinking of getting back to the good ol 2T. Oh, Italy too. I think the bast way to keep 2T alive and back, Is to try 4T for awhile !

This news made me very happy. I'm an old Maico sponsored rider. The only thing that I hope Maico will consider and do, Is to go for high tech ( Alum frame, Suspension, Inject, Etc ) Stuff on their bikes in order to make them competative with the Japanies and others. Days are coming to say Goodby to those expensive, Heavy, Kicking, Noisy, Cruiser 4 Cycles.

You guys see that they can get a RM125XC and RM250XC in UK? Cool, but I want new mxers! Brits and Holland and Ausies are lucky. Wonder why Suzuki doesn't think Americans want them. Cause we're fat and lazy- or stupid because for the most part Americans bought into it that 4t's are better.
It's funny that dads at the starting gate were calling me "dumb" for putting my son on a 125 instead of the "superior" 250f, then said we have a "cheater bike" when we roll up to the gate on a 2006 stock RM250.

Here is a video of Dylan on his '06 RM125. It's a practice so he waits at the gate but still cool to see the 125 pull the 4t's on the straights. I thought that wasn't possible. Also another kid on a YZ125-cool.
