Mega Maico for 2010
Hardcore two stroke fans will be pleased to know that next years Maico will feature a variety of styling and performance changes to the current model range. Not wishing to give too much away Maico International, who are responsible for the progress and development are keeping pretty tight lipped about the whole situation but have confirmed the changes do include several substantial improvements including a hand made alloy tank being designed and produced by one of the world leaders in alloy tank production, Parker Fabrications (www.parker-fabrication.co.uk) who are well known for their highly regarded aftermarket Harley Davidson tanks.
Speaking earlier in the week Maico Internationals Dunlop Maxima rider and head mechanic Neil Berry said “To say I’m enthusiastic about this is understating things a little, the 2010 Maico will be lighter and faster and well worth waiting for.
Visitors to the annual U.K. dirt bike show will be able to see the current model along with an insight into next year’s bike and the improvements made on the West Country Windings stand, number CO2B.

This is great!
Maico making moves!
I see the 4 strokes are sitting on the showroom floors not being sold and let go for mega low prices. Wake up big 4 the economy is in the tank and selling higher priced 4 strokes was not a wise choice, just think how many lower priced 2 strokes you could have sold if you still made them!

I was not aware that Maico’s were still in production. Where can they be seen? Are there dealers in the US?
By JohnNicholas on October 23rd, 2009 at 2:14 pm
Yes Maicos are still in production.
There should be an announcement in January about a US Maico distributor.
The web site for Maico is located here http://www.maicointernational.com/

I really want to try out a Maico.
One of my dream bikes is the TM Racing MX300. But I wonder how a Maico 320MX compares. And I would not pass up a chance to ride the 685MX.

Anybody know of someone that has tested or at least done a brief riding impressions on the new Maicos? I want to buy a modern bike(of course, 2 stroke)in the next year or so. I just want to know how something is before I go and lay down some cash.

You can go to the Uk and get a brand new RM! Suzuki must hate Americans and love the Brits, otherwise why would they punish us this way? Seriously though, my son and I met a Suzuki rep earlier this season and we flat out asked him their position on the two stroke. He said “suzuki is very much behind the two stroke”. I guess he meant behind it as they push it right out of racing! It’s too bad. He have three modern suzuki two strokes and they flat out rip, most amazing bikes I have ever riden. We need new ones. My son is very loyal to the yellow bikes, but my patience is running thin. In fact I’m down right pissed. I’ve been looking more and more at TM’s and Maico’s web sites and I am starting to waver. Do you here me Jap bike makers? You idiots are losing customers. My son races a ton and we spend a shit load on racing-bikes and parts. The money could just as easily go to Europe. Sorry, guess I started to vent there, but did I mention I’m pissed? Do you here us AMA? My son and I are due paying members. He’s looking to the future about racing against $$$$$4t’s. Ya right! CC vs CC now! Hmm FI TM125, TM250 or a radical new Maico…
At least you guys on here understand!
By Dylan155 on October 27th, 2009 at 6:38 am
And another thing. All the two stroke haters ever realize that if they let the pros on 250 2t’s in the 250 class that 4t’s would get even better? They would have to throw even more money at them to try to make them “better”. It’s a win-win. Both bikes could see improvements. And people would be lined up around the block at dealerships to get a 250 2t! It’s so amazing how people will tell me that four strokes are better, then in the same breath say it’s not fair to race 250 vs 250! Tards. Sorry, venting again.

I started riding 2strokes back in the mid 60’s, both kawasakis & suzuki. In 1971, I bought a new 125 Maico with Rotary valve motor. I rode & raced that bike for about 4 years. Never had a problem. I don’t have the bike but funny thing is I still the original owners Manual. Crazy…In feb of 2002 I bought a XR200 Honda (which I still have today). It rode like the days of the old 2 Strokes. I now have this XR, A 2005 CR125R & a 2007 CR250R. I guess what I’m saying is, 2 Strokes will continue on as the bikes to Live forever. By the way If & when Maico has a Dealership in the USA, I’m going buy 1 & bring it back home to Hawaii Aloha, From the 50th State

Yeah dylan I just checked and you can still get RM 250cc 2 strokes 2009 in UK! I cant believe it! It must be cos of our popular 2 stroke championship here in UK so they are still selling lots of bikes this is great news
check out the web page http://www.suzuki-gb.co.uk/bike/rm250k9/
is even says this -
Suzuki is dedicated to two-stroke technology. Not content with an already championship winning machine, the designers at Suzuki have gone mad…and revised and improved the machine again.
£4199.00** The ready to go prices shown are correct at Oct 2009 and include VAT.

bad news is Kawasaki dropped the KX 2 stroke in 2009… so out of big 4 at least there are 2 still making it in 2010, I thought it was only Yamaha!
By westyz on October 27th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
Would be a good idea to keep up features on Suzuki’s RM on this site Jon, we see a lot of Yamaha’s YZ’s, if Suzuki can sell the RM 2 stroke in the UK then they can sell it in the USA if enough people still want it!
By westyz on October 27th, 2009 at 2:13 pm

I hate how people on this website still support Yamaha. As if Yamaha cares about 2-strokes? No they don’t. If they had it their way they would throw them out. Look at their snowmobile. They are the only company NOT building a 2-stroke. In fact every ad they run is AGAINST 2-strokes.
By JohnNicholas on October 27th, 2009 at 9:21 pm
2STROKEREVOLUTION – As of today Yamaha is the ONLY company out of the Big 4 that currently imports a two stroke motocross bike into the US. For that reason alone they deserve our support.
Could they do better? Yes, without a doubt.
From your note you seem to have an inside line into what the Yamaha factory really wants. Do you have facts from Yamaha or just your opinion, please enlighten us all.

Will you guys in Holland be able to get a 2010 RM?
By Dylan155 on October 28th, 2009 at 12:33 am
You guys see that they can get a RM125XC and RM250XC in UK? Cool, but I want new mxers! Brits and Holland and Ausies are lucky. Wonder why Suzuki doesn’t think Americans want them. Cause we’re fat and lazy- or stupid because for the most part Americans bought into it that 4t’s are better.
It’s funny that dads at the starting gate were calling me “dumb” for putting my son on a 125 instead of the “superior” 250f, then said we have a “cheater bike” when we roll up to the gate on a 2006 stock RM250.
Here is a video of Dylan on his ‘06 RM125. It’s a practice so he waits at the gate but still cool to see the 125 pull the 4t’s on the straights. I thought that wasn’t possible. Also another kid on a YZ125-cool.

This news made me very happy. I’m an old Maico sponsored rider. The only thing that I hope Maico will consider and do, Is to go for high tech ( Alum frame, Suspension, Inject, Etc ) Stuff on their bikes in order to make them competative with the Japanies and others. Days are coming to say Goodby to those expensive, Heavy, Kicking, Noisy, Cruiser 4 Cycles.
By 2TMX4EVER on November 2nd, 2009 at 7:01 pm
Dylan, I understand you fully. But it’s not only the Americans getting the 4T fever or whatever you may call it. Iranians are exactly the same. Last year, I was visiting Iran and got so shocked to see most of them riding 4T ! But, today, Many are becoming regretful and thinking of getting back to the good ol 2T. Oh, Italy too. I think the bast way to keep 2T alive and back, Is to try 4T for awhile !
By Dylan155 on November 2nd, 2009 at 8:59 pm
I never thought of Iran and motocross at the same time! What brands do they ride there? Do the have pro level riders and everthing?
By 2STROKEREVOLUTION on November 3rd, 2009 at 7:11 am
JohnNicholas
The reason I say Yamaha would like to kill the 2T is based on what they have done in other markets. Mainly Snowmobiles and outboard engines. Have you seen an ad lately? Their ads are extremely anti-two-stroke. They are doing anything they can to kill the 2T. If there was no KTM Yamaha would go ahead and kill the 2T in MX too.
I believe what they do in other departments reflects their goals.
But I guess buying a 2T from them can’t hurt. As long as you aren’t short sighted to the MX world.

I’ve ridden the new Maico’s for quite a few years now and my brother has ridden new TM’s. I find the TM’s too much work to ride – pipey mid range case reed motors and handling characteristics I can’t get used to.The Maico’s, on the other hand, have linear, powerful, piston port reed motors and neutral handling characteristics that inspire confidence.I’d rather keep the chrome-moly frames,KTM and Ducati have it right. One problem with the Maico’s (for height challenged riders)is that they are very tall.I can look David Knight right in the eyes so the Maico’s are very comfortable for me.
By JustEnduro on November 17th, 2009 at 8:33 pm
Just curious – Why don’t Maico pick up the Knighter (Enduro) – He is struggling for a ride?
What an advert for Maico!!!
Maybe very expensive – but it would put their name on the map BIG TIME, if the bike really is as good as that….Blew up in BMW’s face…
Maybe have DK have a test run on the Maico in private?
Kawasaki don’t sponsor him…Currently riding as a privateer as far as I know??
By 2TMX4EVER on November 19th, 2009 at 2:17 pm
Dylan155, Yes, I know what your saying. With all the politics and dirty worlds of it out there, It is hard to think of sports in Iran. Indeed, There are all the brands available. But like in the U.S, Japanies bikes are top. Actually, MX has been there since the CZ and Maico time of Europe. Infact, If it wasn’t because of that God D.. revolution, Iran would have been listed on top GP FIM today. By the way, Almost all riders out there interested and follows about American riders such as, RC and others. Yes some very good and talented riders out there. Freestyle too. Perhaps one day soon, The 2 countries will become allied again and riders can meet and have fun to compete. That will be the best. If interested to see some pics, Let me have your email and I will send to you some.
