I have been out of the scene awhile but Rick Peterson Motorsports did this in the 90's and early 00's. I raced GNCC's, SERA, SE&TRA and FTR events with his 139cc bike.

From my experience, you may not be able to hole shot a 250 like they claimed but you could rail the outside of a KTM 200 and still have more top end. Power was excellent everywhere.

Top end changes were required on schedule. Unlike a stock 125, the performance drop was not gradual. You couldn't extend the life by even 1 race. You went from rocket to pushing your bike back to the pits.

Were I to race competively again, I would not hesitate to run a big bore 125.

I WANT one! They need to offer these in the US! So if a YZ125 is my favorite bike and there are good times to be had passing 4 $trokes on it.... how much fun would a 144 be? Hmmm.
