New Ignition sparks option initiative

By JohnNicholas • on August 20, 2009

As every year passes large scale manufacturers appear to go all out, to out-do the competition in releasing next years model with fewer pages being turned on the current calendar before someone appears trackside claiming to be the first with next years latest rocket.

2010 models now seem to arrive in the hands of proud owners as early as July the “new shiny bike look” will no doubt have faded by the time we see in the New Year.

Working closely with the factory in terms of development, Maico International are proud to announce a different spin to buying a new bike. Unlike other manufacturer’s who build in large quantities, usually in one production run, a new Maico can be new at whatever time of year the customer prefers, and now a list of options for the client are about to become a reality.

Following months of testing and development with Sponsors West Country Windings and Maico International’s mechanic Neil Berry the M.X. range is now fitted with a much improved ignition system as standard equipment. The improved system provides more voltage and in turn a stronger spark which works especially well with the bigger engines making them much easier to start. Opting for a combined c.d.i.- coil unit rather than the previous two component set-up has proved beneficial, providing a much more responsive and free-er revving motor.

With several options yet to be added to the list, already confirmed are: four different graphic style/seat color combinations, lowered seat, different frame colors, Excel rims available in different colors, and Ohlins rear shock.
