BW 85’s rule the mud in the UK
Round 4 of the BYMX British Youth Championships rolled into the fantastic hillside venue of Little Silver moto parc, unfortunatley the weather was to deal a blow to proceeding with very gusty winds and torrential rain for a good percentage of the event, turning this fast sweeping hillside track into a treacherous gnarly mess, with harpin turns up huge hills and long rutted off camber sections. Riders had to be smooth and fast to hold corner speed and drive for those hills !
The main man again was Championship leader Ryan Houghton who blew the rest away as his KTM 85 was on rails around this circuit, Ryan fresh from a good showing at a recent European Championship was glad to see the rain as he knows the wet is a leveler and the big gap in 85 v 150 power is not important. Ryan won the event with a 3rd, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st scorecard extended his Championship lead even further with his competitors all sharing the top ten with no rider getting consistent scores to keep him insight on the points table. Other riders showing well were Jake Milward who made some impressive moves on his KTM to nail 2nd overall on the day and Ben Howell who enjoyed out jumping every 150 on the big uphill launch taking 4th o-a for his efforts, in fact it was another 85 ‘ rout’ as these racers prove power is not everything, and this showed in the final results again here with no less than seven 85’s in the top 10. This should of been a killing ground for the 150 with tight one-line turns and very steep hills, but they just cant deal with the soft going as well as a lighter less torquey 2st., plus the little 85’s sound awesome on full loud !
Great racing boys, fanatstic to watch young guns learning their trade as every pass was well earned
