EXACTLY! like Leno says,
You guys pegged it about 4 and 2. Both good, just pick your favorite.
I've tried the big 4s and just prefer the "snappiness" of the 2 smokers.
It's like riding a wild Mustang on a 2 stroke vs anything you want to say that is very much under control, but very smooth (like a large Cadallac etc)Nice, but not my style even for a guy in his 50s.

I bought a new 1997 WR 250, got it plated in CA and never have found anything better since. Jim Holly's Dad (Al) messaged the motor with the factory racing GYTR long rod kit and made a killer motor that still runs premium gas. Al did another of my pals WRs and it had to run race gas. I wanted to ride on the streets to go find dirt and did it before it was popular. Now everyone wants to open up more riding, but they are stuck with heavy 4 strokes. KTM seem to be the only one that understands the light weight, but unfortunately no 2 strokes can be bought in CA and ridden on the streets. My buddies said you better key that thing, so it has a Honda key to fool the bad guys!

Just did the LA-Barstow to Vegas dual sport ride and got alot of 4 strokers very jealous with it's light weight and great power. I rode with VCMC club from Ventura and they mostly rode new Huskies and said they are about 270 lbs. The riders told me I was lucky to keep my Yamaha since it was one of the only bikes to make Gills Hill (A tortuous section of Fremont mountain) I love it and plan on riding it until the wheels fall off of it. Most 2 strokes were from out of state and were the 250/300 KTMs.
Too bad the AMA and the factories did what they did and almost killed them off.
Our club is part of the AMA but I don't agree with what the AMA did to the 2 strokes.
